Unique New School in Northeast Amager outside Copenhagen City Center
When NCC Denmark had to dismantle the construction elevator to work on an underground water reservoir, they needed alternative methods to transport materials to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.

Newbuilding of School in Amager, Copenhagen
- Prosjekt: “NØAS – Nordøst Amager School”
- Project type: School
- Size: 10 592 m2
- Contractor: NCC Denmark A/S
- Location: Amager, Copenhagen, Denmark
- Liftroller system: Liftroller Floor
Inbound and Outbound transport
NCC Denmark has recently completed the project, and a new and entirely unique school in Amager, Copenhagen, has emerged. When Liftroller was contacted to address logistics challenges, the building was completely enclosed and heated. Much of the interior work was already in place. In connection with the completion of the underground water reservoir for the building’s sprinkler system, the elevator had to be dismantled since it was located on top of the concrete basin. NCC needed to transport very long packages of steel pipes, which are typically challenging to handle. The choice fell on 3 x Liftroller Floor – one on each floor. As Liftroller Floor can be easily moved on its own wheels and secured in a few minutes, NCC could roll them in and out of the building as needed. The rest of the time, the openings in the building were closed with “barn doors” for both warmth and safety reasons.
Since interior ceilings and ventilation were installed in large parts of the building, adjustments had to be made at points where the four supports of Liftroller Floor would be placed. As the load on these points is relatively small, the customer’s carpenter solved this on-site by building a simple box in the ceiling where the supports would otherwise have conflicted with ventilation, etc.
